People use our guides to make real decisions: which documents to bring, how much to pay, and when to go to an NBI branch. Getting a detail wrong can cost someone a wasted day. This page explains how we try to get it right.
Sources we use
- Primary sources first. The NBI’s official website and online clearance system, the NBI Citizen’s Charter, and official announcements from the NBI and the Department of Justice.
- Laws and official issuances where relevant, for example Republic Act No. 11261 (First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act).
- Other official bodies for related steps, such as the DFA for apostille and Philippine embassies and consulates for applicants abroad.
We do not treat forum posts, social media or other guide websites as sources of fact. We may read them to learn which questions people are asking, then confirm the answer with an official source.
How a guide is written and checked
- Each guide starts from the official process and is written in plain English for first-time applicants.
- Fees, requirements, accepted IDs and steps are checked against the official source before publishing.
- Where the official information is unclear or changes often, we say so instead of guessing.
- Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed.
Updates and corrections
We review our main guides regularly and whenever the NBI announces changes to its process, fees or system. If a reader reports an error, we check it against the official source and correct the guide if needed. Significant corrections are noted in the guide.

Independence
We are not paid by the NBI or any agency, and we do not sell appointments or processing services. If we ever show advertising or affiliate links, they will be clearly labelled and will never change what a guide says about the official process.
Use of tools
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, for research, drafting and checking. Every guide is reviewed and fact-checked against official sources by our editorial team before it is published, and we are responsible for everything we publish.
